What is an aluminium composite panel?

An aluminium composite panel, commonly referred to as an ACP or ACP sheet, is a flat panel product constructed from two thin, coil-coated aluminium sheets bonded together around a non-aluminium core. This core is typically composed of polyethylene or a blend of polyethylene with a fire-resistant mineral filler.

What is the difference between aluminum composite panel and aluminum sheet?

The primary differences between aluminum sheet and aluminum composite panel lie in their materials and structural composition: Aluminum sheet is mainly made of solid aluminum or alloy aluminum; the structure of aluminum composite panel consists of two layers of aluminum sheet bonded together with a layer of polyethylene or flame-retardant material in between, which is compounded under high temperatures.

 

Aluminum Sheet:

  1. An aluminum sheet is a flat product made entirely of aluminum.
  2. It is often used in applications that require the purest form of aluminum, such as in the construction of vehicles, aircraft, and boats, where weight savings and corrosion resistance are critical.

Aluminum Composite Panel (ACP):

  1. An ACP is a composite material consisting of two thin aluminum sheets bonded to a core made of non-aluminum materials, such as polyethylene or a mix of polyethylene and a fire-resistant mineral filler.
  2. It is designed for use in building facades, signage, transportation interiors, and other applications where a lightweight, rigid, and easily fabricated material is required.
