A B1 Fire Rated Aluminium Composite Panel (ACP) is a specialized building material structured with a flame-retardant mineral core sandwiched between two aluminum sheets. Engineered to resist ignition and slow down flame propagation, it complies with stringent safety standards—such as China’s GB/T8626—making it suitable for high-rise buildings, exterior facades, and public spaces where fire safety is a critical priority. Its mineral-infused core, often containing magnesium oxide, exhibits self-extinguishing properties: once the ignition source is removed, the panel stops burning. Compared to standard ACPs, it generates less smoke and heat, rendering it an ideal choice for both cladding and interior finishing applications.
Core Fire Safety Features
- Limited Combustibility: The defining attribute is its B1 fire rating, which classifies the material as “hardly flammable” with strong ignition resistance. This classification adheres to standards such as the European EN 13501-1 and equivalent national regulations worldwide.
- Mineral-Filled Core: The central core is crafted from fire-retardant materials, typically a blend of non-toxic minerals like aluminum oxide and magnesium oxide. This replaces the highly flammable polyethylene (PE) core used in conventional ACPs.
- Reduced Fire Spread: When exposed to flame, the B1 panel will only burn for a limited duration (approximately 5 minutes). Crucially, the flame extinguishes shortly after the ignition source is removed, significantly slowing the spread of fire throughout a structure.
- Low Smoke and Droplet Emission: These panels are designed to produce minimal smoke and no flaming droplets during a fire event—features that are vital for ensuring safe evacuation routes and maintaining visibility for emergency responders.
